The final countdown has begun. We’re barely a week away from the Montpellier LEC Season Finals, where our six remaining LEC teams – G2 Esports, MAD Lions, Team BDS, Excel Esports, Fnatic, and SK Gaming – will compete for their chance to secure one of three spots in Montpellier, in the Occitanie region, at our 2023 LEC Season Finals roadshow!
Read on for our detailed explainer of all things LEC Season Finals, including dates, times, and format breakdown for the culmination of the 2023 LEC Season.
Format Overview:
With G2 Esports’ victory over Excel Esports in the LEC Summer Final, we now have our six finalists locked in for the Season Finals kickoff on August 19 at the LEC studio.
Those six finalists will compete in a best-of-five elimination bracket culminating in the LEC Season Finals roadshow. Winter/Summer Split champions G2 Esports and Spring Split champions MAD Lions accrued the most Championship Points throughout the course of the season, and are therefore seeded into the Upper Bracket, where they’ll face Team BDS and Excel Esports respectively.

For our Lower Bracket teams, SK Gaming and Fnatic, there’s only a single game between them and the end of their 2023 LEC run. They’ll play the losers of our Upper Bracket matchups for their last shot at a spot at Worlds and the 2023 LEC Season Finals roadshow – SK Gaming will take the higher-seeded loser, while Fnatic will take the lower.
Roadshow & Worlds 2023 Qualification:
The three best teams from stage one of the Season Finals will qualify for the Season Finals Roadshow in Montpellier, in the Occitanie region. They’ll also secure themselves a spot at the 2023 World Championship in South Korea – but seeding will still be all to play for on the Sud de France Arena stage.
The fourth-place team will also qualify for our Worlds Qualifying Series – with more information on this coming at a later date.
Key Dates and Times:
The first three weekends of games, from August 19 to September 3, will take place in the LEC Studio in Berlin. But from September 9, our final three teams battle it out for the crown of LEC Season Finals champion.
